General Purpose
Pueblo Water seeks to hire individuals for temporary seasonal employment to perform a variety of roles in our Transmission Distribution & Engineering Division (TD&E), Facilities Operations & Maintenance Division (FO&M), Human Resources, and SCADA Department. Roles in TD&E & FO&M include, but are not limited to, general manual labor tasks to assist with facilities/grounds maintenance. Tasks may also include labor in connection with work on: valves, pipelines, meters, or general office clerical support. Roles in Human Resources include basic general office skills and computer. Roles in SCADA include, but are not limited to, the use of AutoCad or drafting software. Temporary employees may work up to 40 hours per week for no more than 120 consecutive calendar days beginning no sooner than April 15 and working no later than September 15. Must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent, a valid State of Colorado Class R driver license with a good driving record, and pass pre-employment criminal background checks, controlled substances and alcohol screenings. Rate of pay $17.31 per hour. Employees who work 350 hours by the end of the seasonal period may be eligible for a $500 bonus. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM OR 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, subject to variation based on the operational needs of the department assigned. Positions are temporary without paid leave or benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
No specific experience is required for manual labor positions; basic knowledge of general labor tasks is preferred to assist with: building maintenance, landscaping, construction and/or installing and testing meters. Must be able to use basic hand tools, operate equipment and drive a motor vehicle. Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Positions may be exposed to temperature extremes, adverse weather conditions, noise, dust, chemicals, fumes and traffic hazards. Work requires standing and/or walking, bending, stooping, kneeling and climbing for extended periods on a regular basis. Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling items (sometimes in excess of 40 pounds) is moderate. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and general public, perform manual labor for extended periods of time, understand oral and written instructions, operate or receive training on various types of maintenance and construction equipment and perform the essential functions of the position.
